Let’s Go Motorhomes has been announced as the Main Sponsor of the 2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Cairns.

Cycling Australia CEO Nick Green said that Let’s Go has joined forces with the UCI 2017 Mountain Bike World Championships as excitement reaches fever pitch, with only two weeks to go until the biggest names in the sport make their way to Australia’s superb mountain biking destination in Cairns. He welcomed the support of Let’s Go Motorhomes and encouraged fans to make the most of their time in Cairns.

Green said that the event will also now incorporate an Official City Live Site where fans can experience some of the event sponsor activations, DJ’s, athlete appearances, stunt riders, giveaways and much more.

More than 20,000 spectators are set to descend on the idyllic location, and a special ‘locals’ pricing structure has been introduced to invite fans from 208 postcodes within the Cairns region to experience mountain biking’s pinnacle event and world class action.

Prices for adult tickets start from $15 and $40 for families with children under 10 FREE to experience explosive action from the worlds best Mountain Bike athletes. The 2017 event will feature over 300 riders from more than 35 countries competing in the Cross Country (XCO) and Downhill (DHI) disciplines.

The event will be held at Smithfield Regional Park, James Cook University from the 5 – 10 September 2017 and features six days of action.

The most notable change to the schedule is the shift of the two disciplines from last year’s World Cup format. This year the Cross Country (XCO) competition will be contested on Saturday 9 September while the Downhill (DHI) event will take place on Sunday 10 September.

The event will have significant TV and digital viewing presence including the distribution of television broadcast to a cumulative audience in excess of 6.13 million globally across 18 different nations. Domestically SBS and Fox Sports will carry the broadcast.

Cycling Australia (CA) is the national body responsible for the sport of cycling in Australia as recognised by the International Cycling Union (UCI), the Australian Government through the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), the Commonwealth Games Australia Association (CGAA) and the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC).

In 2013 Cycling Australia was awarded the right to host the 2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, along with the 2014 and 2016 UCI Mountain Bike World Cups. Cycling Australia secured the events with the support of the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing, in partnership with Cairns Regional Council, James Cook University and Tourism Tropical North Queensland.
